Waste Notification

§ 53 KrWG defines that collectors, transporters, dealers and brokers of waste must notify their activities to the competent authority, unless a permit according to § 54 KrWG is required for this activity. The submission of a notification is sufficient, for example, if the activity only relates to non-hazardous waste or is carried out as part of another commercial or economic activity (e.g. as part of the activity as a building tradesman, building contractor or mobile service provider). Companies certified in accordance to the Ordinance on Specialised Waste Management Companies (Entsorgungsfachbetriebsverordnung - EfbV) are also exempt from the permit requirement.

The notification can be made electronically via the online service (elektronisches Anzeigen- Erlaubnis Verfahren - eAEV) operated by the federal states in accordance with § 8 AbfAEV and sent to the relevant competent authority. The notifying person receives a link which is used to obtain the confirmation of receipt from the authority.
